What is Background Screening in HRM?

Background screening, also known as background checking, is the process of verifying the credentials, history, and behavior of a potential or current employee. It involves assessing information such as employment history, education, criminal records, credit history, and other details to ensure a candidate's suitability for a role.

In simple terms, background screening is like a fact-checking mission for your candidates, ensuring they are who they say they are and meet the organization’s standards. Why is Background Screening important?
